Unilock Roofing: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Unilock-compatible roofing parts across Miami, with most replacements running $470 to $2,125 fully installed depending on the component and roof access. If your Unilock roof system is leaking, lifting, or showing cracked caps, we can usually match the part same week. Most Miami homeowners discover the failure the hard way: a watermark on the ceiling after a heavy afternoon storm, or a paver-style ridge cap that’s shifted out of place after wind off Biscayne Bay.

Unilock is primarily known for hardscaping, so when we say “Unilock roofing” we’re talking about Unilock roof pavers, ridge caps, and the pedestal or batten systems used in flat and low-slope Miami roofs. These systems put a paver surface over a waterproof membrane, and when a component fails, water gets underneath and starts doing quiet damage. The part that fails first is rarely the paver itself. It’s the membrane seam, the pedestal, or the edge flashing.
Which Unilock Models This Applies To

Unilock roof pavers come in a few series that Miami contractors have used over the years, including the thinner-profile pavers meant for rooftop decks and the heavier units used on walkable terraces over occupied space. The compatibility gotcha we see regularly: the paver thickness (typically 50mm or 60mm) must match the pedestal height range and the edge restraint detail. A 50mm paver on a pedestal shimmed for 60mm changes the finished height, which throws off door thresholds and drain tie-ins.
When you need a replacement part, the first thing to check is the underside of any loose paver or cap. Unilock stamps most of its paver units with a series name or a mold number. If that’s worn off, measure the thickness and the length-width dimensions in millimeters. We carry OEM Unilock units and quality aftermarket equivalents for discontinued lines. For most Miami roofs, the OEM-vs-aftermarket decision comes down to color match: Unilock color lots shift over time, so even an OEM paver from a new run can look slightly different than the originals. We pull samples before we quote.

Signs Your Unilock Roofing Is Failing
- Water staining on the ceiling below the roof deck. This usually means the membrane under the pavers has a seam failure or a puncture, not that a paver cracked. The paver system hides the real problem until water has already traveled.
- Pavers rocking or shifting underfoot. In Miami’s heat and humidity, pedestal heads can warp or the support tabs can snap. A rocking paver means the pedestal below has failed or settled unevenly.
- Loose or missing ridge caps after wind. Miami’s thunderstorm gusts loosen cap units that weren’t set with the right adhesive or mechanical clip. Once one cap goes, the next storm gets under the ones beside it.
- Visible cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. This is usually structural movement below, not a paver defect. The crack pattern tells us where the deck is flexing.
- Efflorescence or white mineral streaks on the paver surface. Water is moving through the paver body and evaporating, which means drainage underneath is poor or the pavers are holding moisture they shouldn’t.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Unilock roof repairs in Miami, you’re typically looking at $470 to $2,125 depending on how many units need replacing and what’s underneath them. A single cracked paver with a good membrane below runs at the low end. Replacing a section of pedestals, resetting pavers, and re-flashing an edge runs higher. If the membrane itself is compromised, that’s a different job entirely, and we’ll give you a written number for that scope before any work starts.
Every quote from us includes the parts, labor, disposal of the failed material, and a written price before the first tool comes out. We don’t do verbal estimates that grow by Friday. The work comes with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed fails within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check whether a paver is loose by walking the edge carefully, but we don’t recommend pulling up pavers or pedestals yourself. The moment you lift a paver, you’re exposing the waterproof membrane underneath, and one wrong move with a pry bar puts a hole in the only thing keeping water out of your home. We’ve repaired more DIY lifts than we can count here in Miami, usually after someone tried to save a few hundred dollars and ended up with a ceiling repair that cost thousands.
If you’re seeing any of the signs above, call us at (850) 780-8123. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician with a photo ID badge who can read the roof and give you a straight number. Isaac Pruett walks enough of these jobs personally that the quote you get is the quote you can plan around.
FAQs

Unilock roof pavers themselves can last 20 to 30 years in Miami, but the waterproof membrane below them typically fails in 10 to 15 years due to UV exposure at edges and thermal movement. The pavers are usually not the weak point, which is why a paver that looks fine can still be hiding a leak below. Call (850) 780-8123 if your roof is over a decade old and you’re seeing interior stains.
Pedestals can sometimes be re-shimmed and ridge caps can be re-adhered, but cracked pavers should be replaced rather than patched. Patching a paver with sealant looks worse than the crack and fails within a season in Miami’s heat. We’ll tell you honestly which parts can be saved and which need to go.
Most Unilock paver or pedestal replacements on a Miami roof take half a day to one full day, depending on access and how many units need to come up. If the membrane needs section work, that extends the job and we’ll tell you before we start, not after.
We stock common Unilock roof paver sizes and pedestal brands on our trucks, and we can source discontinued or odd-size units through our supplier network within a few days in Miami. If we don’t have the exact match, we’ll show you samples of what’s available before you commit. Call (850) 780-8123 and tell us what you need done. Isaac will tell you what it costs and when it’s finished, and he’ll mean both.
