Why Miami Homeowners Choose Therma-Tru Construction
We provide independent Miami Therma Tru service for door and window construction, repair, and replacement throughout Miami, from Coral Gables bungalows to Kendall ranch homes. Our crews have spent years diagnosing the specific ways this city’s heat, humidity, and hurricane-driven salt air stress Therma-Tru systems, so we know which fixes actually hold up here. We are not authorized by or affiliated with Therma-Tru, and we’ll tell you that plainly before any work begins. What we offer is something different: years of hands-on repair data from real Miami houses, genuine Therma-Tru parts, and a written price before a single tool comes off the truck. Call (850) 780-8123 for a free estimate.

If you own a Therma-Tru Classic-Craft entry door, a Benchmark door, a Smooth-Star unit, or a Pulse system, this page tells you what goes wrong with them in this climate, what it costs to fix, and how to know whether repair or replacement makes sense.
Why Trust Mason Remodeling Co Miami for Your Therma-Tru Construction?

Therma-Tru builds fiberglass door systems with tight tolerances. Getting a repair right means understanding those tolerances, not just swapping parts and hoping. Our crews work on these systems week in and week out in Therma Tru in Miami Beach and Miami’s coastal conditions, and that repetition builds the kind of expertise you can’t get from a manual. We know, for example, that a Classic-Craft door on a west-facing Coral Gables entry takes direct afternoon sun for six months of the year, and that sun drives expansion cycles the manufacturer’s standard warranty assumes happen over a decade, not a single summer.
Isaac Pruett, our owner, grew up swinging a framing hammer in Los Angeles, earned his construction trade certificate from Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and spent years working every phase of residential builds before moving his operation to South Florida. He and our crews have been working Miami neighborhoods for well over a decade, including projects throughout Coconut Grove. That background matters when a Therma-Tru install requires working around an out-of-square rough opening, a rotted threshold, or a sagging header. We quote the real fix, not the fast one.
Every Mason Remodeling Co Miami technician follows the Threshold Standard: background-checked, identity-verified, uniformed, and introduced to you by name and photo before the visit. When they arrive, they show a photo ID badge at the door. We put this on paper because homeowners opening their door to a stranger deserve to know exactly who is coming.

Common Therma-Tru Construction Problems We Fix in Miami
- Warped or delaminated fiberglass skins on Classic-Craft and Smooth-Star doors. Miami’s UV intensity and summer humidity push and pull on fiberglass door skins. We regularly see Classic-Craft panels that have developed a visible wave or distortion after several seasons, especially on west- and south-facing entries. The cause is almost always sustained heat cycling, not a manufacturing defect. Once the fiberglass skin has delaminated from the core, patching is cosmetic only. The structural layer is compromised.
- Failed weatherstripping and door sweeps after hurricane-driven rain. Therma-Tru’s weatherstripping is precise when new, but Miami’s rain comes sideways during tropical storms. That kind of wind-driven water finds any gap in a worn sweep or corner seal pad. We see this most often on Classic-Craft and Pulse door systems that are five or more years old. The fix is usually a full weatherstripping and threshold seal replacement with genuine Therma-Tru parts.
- Loose or stripping hinge screws on Benchmark entry doors. Benchmark doors are heavy, and Miami’s older wood-frame homes from the 1950s and 1960s often have door frames that have shrunk, split, or been previously patched. Frequent use on a primary entry means hinge screws back out or strip the jamb. The proper fix involves longer screws driven into framing, not just filling the old hole and re-using the same screw. We also inspect the reveal and the jamb square before re-hanging.
- Fogged or failed double-pane insulating glass in Therma-Tru sidelights and transoms. Salt air and humidity work on seals over time. Once the desiccant inside a dual-pane unit is saturated, fogging is permanent. You can’t clean it from the inside. On Therma-Tru units with snapped-in glazing beads, the glass can often be replaced without pulling the entire frame, but the replacement unit needs to match the original sightline or the door looks off-balance.
- Water intrusion at the threshold. Miami’s flat, low-lying lots and heavy rain mean thresholds take a beating. We see rotted wood subfloors under aluminum thresholds on homes from the 1920s through the 1970s, especially in Mediterranean Revival houses where the original threshold was never adjusted for the door system that replaced a much thinner wood door. The Therma-Tru adjustable aluminum sill is a good product, but it only works if it’s installed on a sound, level base. We rebuild that base when necessary.
Therma-Tru Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use genuine Therma-Tru replacement parts: weatherstripping, thresholds, corner seal pads, hinge screw packs, and adjustable sills. These are the components the original system was designed around. Our crews carry common Therma-Tru replacement components on the truck, which means many repairs can be completed in a single visit without waiting on an order, an important edge in Miami where waiting on a backordered part during the rainy season can mean water in your entryway for weeks.
Repair versus replace comes down to one honest question: are we fixing a wear component or a structural component? Weatherstripping, sweeps, thresholds, and hinge hardware are wear components. They are designed to be replaced. A door skin that has warped, delaminated, or a core that shows water intrusion is structural. Patching a structurally compromised fiberglass system costs money and buys a year of decent appearance at best, while the underlying problem continues. In that situation, we recommend full replacement, and we’ll show you the damage before we ask for a decision. Most homeowners make that call with a written quote in hand. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll give you one.
Our Therma-Tru Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis at your door. We inspect the slab, jamb, hinges, threshold, weatherstripping, and glass, and we measure the reveal around all three sides of the door. On older Miami homes, we also check the rough opening for sag or water damage that the door itself is hiding. You get a written diagnosis and a fixed price. No verbal range that grows on the final bill.
- 2
Repair or replacement, with specification-grade materials. If it’s a repair, we use genuine Therma-Tru components. If it’s a replacement, we install a new Therma-Tru door system sized to the actual rough opening, not whatever was there before. We flash, shim, and level to the door’s factory spec, and we use PVC exterior trim in place of wood brickmould anywhere the original trim has rotted.
- 3
Adjustment and testing. We hang the door, set the threshold height, check compression on the weatherstripping, and test with a water hose on exterior joints where water intrusion was a reported problem. If the door is a Pulse system, we verify the seal at the sweep and the corner pads specifically.
- 4
Cleanup and warranty. We leave the work area clean and walk you through the finished door. Every completed project at Mason Remodeling Co Miami is covered by a written guarantee with clearly stated terms, and we come back at no charge if a repair or installation fails within the coverage period. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies across general contracting, bathroom remodeling, and whole-home remodels, and we back our door and construction work the same way.

AfterTherma-Tru Products We Service & Install in Miami
We service and install the full range of Therma-Tru entry door systems commonly found in Miami homes. That includes Classic-Craft Fiberglass Entry Doors, the top of Therma-Tru’s residential line, with their wood-grain appearance and paintable or stainable finishes. It also includes Smooth-Star Fiberglass Doors, which are specified more often for contemporary and mid-century homes where a clean, smooth surface fits the architecture better than a textured grain. Pulse Door Systems, Therma-Tru’s pre-hung integrated assembly, appears frequently in newer construction and tract home replacements. And Benchmark by Therma-Tru Entry Doors, the value line found in builder-grade installs across Kendall and Therma-Tru Construction in Doral, FL. We carry common replacement seals, sweeps, sills, and hinge packs for all four lines.
We Also Service These Brands
Therma-Tru is not the only brand on our trucks. As a General Contractor, Mason Remodeling Co Miami also works with KraftMaid cabinetry for full kitchen remodeling, Cambria and Silestone quartz surfaces for countertop and vanity work, and Kohler fixtures for full bathroom remodeling and tub-to-shower conversions. If your project touches more than one brand, you don’t need to coordinate multiple contractors. We handle the whole scope under one written price.
FAQs – Therma-Tru Construction Service in Miami

The wave or distortion you’re seeing is fiberglass skin delamination caused by repeated heat cycling from Miami’s intense year-round sun. West- and south-facing doors absorb the most direct afternoon heat, and over several seasons the adhesive bond between the fiberglass skin and the foam core begins to fail. This is a structural issue, not a surface blemish. Patching and repainting will cover it temporarily, but the panel will continue to degrade. If the wave is pronounced or the surface feels soft when pressed, call (850) 780-8123 for an inspection and an honest recommendation.
Yes. Pulse systems rely on a four-sided compression seal, and water intrusion during wind-driven rain is almost always traceable to failed weatherstripping, a worn corner seal pad, or a threshold that has shifted out of level. We replace these components with genuine Therma-Tru parts and verify the seal with a water test before we leave. If the door slab itself has warped, which happens less often with Pulse than with older fiberglass lines, we’ll tell you that too, with replacement numbers in writing.
Yes. For weatherstripping, thresholds, corner seal pads, and hinge hardware, we use genuine Therma-Tru replacement parts on Benchmark doors, just as we do on Classic-Craft and Smooth-Star units. Benchmark doors are built to a specific price point, but the seals and sills are still engineered to fit the slab precisely. Aftermarket parts may look similar but often leave small gaps that Miami’s sideways rain finds quickly. The parts cost difference on a typical seal replacement is modest, and the labor is the same, so there is no real savings in using an inferior part.
Fogged sidelight glass is a failed insulating glass unit. The seal between the two panes has broken, moisture has entered, and the desiccant inside has saturated. You cannot clean the fog from the inside of a double-pane unit. The glass unit needs replacement. On many Therma-Tru sidelights, the glass is held by removable glazing beads, which means the glass can be swapped without replacing the entire door frame. We match the replacement unit to the original sightline and Low-E coating so the door looks uniform from both sides.
It depends on what took the impact. If the damage is confined to the frame, the threshold, the weatherstripping, or the hinge hardware, repair is straightforward and we can usually complete it quickly. If the fiberglass skin is cracked, punctured, or the core is damaged, replacement is the right call. A punctured fiberglass door has lost its structural integrity and its insulation value, and water will find the breach during the next heavy rain. We’ll show you the damage, explain the options, and hand you a written quote for either path. Then you decide. Call (850) 780-8123 to schedule a look.
