Tamko Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have Tamko cabinetry or architectural components in your Miami kitchen and something has failed, we can match, order, or fabricate the replacement and install it. A typical Tamko-related kitchen remodel in Miami runs between $16,520 and $53,100 depending on scope, materials, and how much of the existing cabinetry can be salvaged. Most owners get to this page after opening a drawer that won’t track, finding a door that has separated from its hinge plate, or pulling a laminate edge that has bubbled away from the substrate in Miami’s humidity. It starts as a small annoyance. Then the drawer box splits, or the wall cabinet pulls away from its anchor, and suddenly it’s a structural conversation.

We are an independent Miami remodeling contractor, not a Tamko dealer or warranty center. But we have torn out, matched, and rebuilt enough Tamko kitchens across Miami-Dade to know exactly what fails and what it costs to make right. Isaac Pruett and our crew have worked Miami neighborhoods for well over a decade, and we bring the Threshold Standard on every job: background-checked technicians, name and photo sent before we arrive, and a written price before any work begins.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s kitchen presence in Florida comes mostly through two product lines: their laminate and thermofoil cabinet series built for humidity resistance, and their architectural wall and trim systems. The single most important identification step is the cabinet hinge. Tamko cabinet lines from the 2000s through the 2010s shipped with both a 35mm cup hinge and, on some builder-grade installs, a face-mounted hinge with a distinct oval screw pattern. If you replace a door, the new hinge needs to match both the bore diameter and the screw spacing, not just the overlay.
For OEM versus aftermarket on Tamko: original hinge plates and drawer glides are getting harder to source, especially for series discontinued before 2015. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist and often outperform the originals, particularly full-extension soft-close drawer runners in stainless. The compatibility gotcha we see in Miami: thermofoil doors manufactured for northern climates delaminate faster here because the adhesive bond between the foil and the MDF core breaks down under sustained humidity above 70%. A door that would last 20 years in Ohio can bubble at the seams in eight to ten years in Coconut Grove or Coral Gables. When that happens, the fix is usually a new door front, not a re-lamination.

Signs Your Tamko Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer faces sloping forward or binding. The undermount glide has lost its rear clip or the plastic roller in the side-mount track has shattered. Common on Tamko drawer boxes built with 3/8-inch bottoms, which flex more than 1/2-inch bottoms under load.
- Doors no longer staying closed or hanging crooked. The hinge plate screws have stripped out of the particleboard stile. Tamko’s frameless lines are especially prone to this because the stile is only 5/8 inches thick, and there is little material behind the screw.
- Thermofoil peeling at the lower door edges. Moisture from mopping and dishwasher steam wicks into the MDF. Once peeling starts, it advances fast in Miami’s wet season.
- Wall cabinets pulling away from the wall or ceiling corner cracking. Often the original installer used toggle anchors instead of stud-mounted screws. This is a real safety concern anywhere, but especially in Miami homes where humidity softens drywall over time.
- Counter-to-cabinet gap widening along the base run. The cabinet boxes themselves are racking. In older Tamko installs, this can mean the base frame was leveled on shims that have since compressed or rotted.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Tamko kitchen remodel in Miami runs $16,520 to $53,100. At the low end, that’s a cosmetic refresh: new doors and drawer fronts on existing boxes, hardware, and perhaps a countertop. At the high end, that’s a tear-out to the studs, new cabinetry, new counters, backsplash, and electrical work. A small kitchen remodel falls between $10,620 and $23,600. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,720 to $15,340, and countertop installation is $2,360 to $7,670.
Every number we give includes labor, materials, and disposal. No surprise invoices. No verbal estimate that grows at the end. We deliver a written price before a single tool is unpacked, and the price covers what it says it covers. If the work is not right within 365 days of completion, we make it right at no cost under our Done Right Promise. That’s the whole point of the thing.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do yourself: identify the cabinet series tag (usually inside the sink base door or on the top of a drawer box), measure the hinge bore and overlay, and pull out a drawer to read the glide manufacturer stamp. Take photos. That information helps us bring the right parts on the first visit instead of the second.
What you should not do: remove or re-anchor a wall cabinet yourself. A loaded wall cabinet falling is a serious injury risk, and the moment you remove it, you need a second person and proper lift support. Re-tensioning or adjusting integrated soft-close mechanisms on large doors is also easier to break than to fix if you have not done it before. If this sounds like your Saturday, call (850) 780-8123 and we will talk through it. The estimate is free.
FAQs

Plan for 15 to 20 years in Miami’s humidity, with thermofoil doors on the lower end and solid wood or plywood-box lines on the upper end. Coastal salt air shortens that further in neighborhoods within a few miles of Biscayne Bay. Call (850) 780-8123 and we will tell you honestly whether yours are worth saving.
Often yes. A stripped hinge plate can be re-fastened with a threaded insert, a sagging drawer can get new glides and a reinforced bottom, and a peeling door front can be replaced without touching the box. We repair what can be repaired. Call (850) 780-8123 for a straight answer.
A cosmetic refresh can be done in five to seven working days. A full tear-out and rebuild averages four to eight weeks depending on permitting, stone fabrication, and electrical scope. We give you the schedule in writing with the price, and Isaac Pruett is known for finishing within the schedule he quotes.
We keep common hinge plates, drawer glides, soft-close adapters, and cabinet anchors on the truck, and we can typically source discontinued Tamko series hardware or have matching door fronts fabricated within two weeks. Tell us what you need done. We will tell you what it costs and when it’s finished, and we will mean both. Call (850) 780-8123.
Yes. Alongside Tamko-specific work, we regularly handle cabinetry and surface components for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone throughout Miami. If your kitchen mixes brands, which most do, we can coordinate the entire repair or remodel without you chasing multiple vendors.
