Schluter Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Schluter fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620, including the Schluter rail, posts, mounting hardware, and labor. We stock Schluter-compatible fence components on our trucks and can usually complete a standard fence replacement in one day, start to finish. Most homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a gate that suddenly drags, a post that leans after a storm, or a rail that pulls loose from the mounting bracket and leaves a visible gap where the fence meets the post.

You’re not just buying a fence part. You’re buying the three things that determine whether it lasts in Miami’s heat, salt air, and hurricane season: the right component, the right hardware, and the right installation method. Get any one of those wrong and you’ll be back here in eighteen months.
Which Schluter Models This Applies To

Schluter makes fence and railing systems under a few distinct lines, and the parts are not interchangeable across all of them. The Schluter-Systems fence line includes the Schluter-RONDEC and Schluter-QUADEC profiles used as edge protection on tiled fence caps and posts, plus their dedicated Schluter-DECO-FENCE and stainless steel railing components used in structural fence runs. The most common mismatch we see in Miami: a homeowner buys a RONDEC profile online for a DECO-FENCE rail, and the mounting channels don’t line up.
Here’s how to identify what you have. Look for the Schluter stamp on the end cap or the underside of the rail. Take a measurement of the rail width in millimeters, not inches. A RONDEC 10, for example, is 10 mm. The fence post brackets are stamped with a part code starting with “SF” for Schluter fence hardware. If you can’t find a stamp, send us a photo, and we’ll identify it before we ever schedule a truck roll. We install OEM Schluter components as standard, but for rail caps and trim profiles we also carry quality aftermarket extrusions that match Schluter’s finish specs. Isaac Pruett will tell you straight: for structural rails and posts, OEM Schluter is the only call. For trim pieces, a spec-matched aftermarket profile often costs 30% less and wears identically in Miami’s climate.

Signs Your Schluter Fence Installation Is Failing
- Visible rust blooms at the post base. Miami’s salt air and seasonal flooding accelerate corrosion on cheap mounting plates. Once the plate starts to flake, the post loses its anchor. You’ll see orange streaks running down the post before it actually wobbles.
- Gate sag that adjusts but never stays fixed. The hinge bolts on Schluter fence gates are embedded in the rail channel. When that channel strips, no amount of hinge tightening will hold. The gate will scrape, then bind, then refuse to latch.
- Rail separation at the bracket. The grub screws that hold the rail inside the post bracket back out over time, especially with Miami’s daily thermal expansion. If you can slide a credit card between the rail end and the post face, the bracket is failing.
- Tile caps cracking or lifting on masonry fence walls. Schluter edge profiles are supposed to protect that corner. When they lose adhesion, water gets behind the tile and the first cold front of the year pops the cap right off.
- Posts out of plumb after a storm. A properly set Schluter post in Miami soil should survive a Category 1 without moving. If yours shifted, the concrete footing was likely undersized from the start. Patched repairs won’t fix a footing problem.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, expect to pay $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete Schluter fence installation. The range is driven by three things: linear footage, whether you’re replacing posts or just rails and caps, and the access situation on your lot. A 40-foot run with standard posts lands near the low end. A 100-foot run on a Coral Gables property with tight side setbacks and roots in the way lands near the top.
Here’s what that price includes:
- Removal and haul-away of the old fence or failed parts
- New Schluter posts set in concrete at Miami-appropriate depth (30+ inches, below our typical soil wash line)
- Schluter rails, brackets, grub screws, and trim profiles matched to your existing system
- Gate re-hanging and hardware replacement where required
- Written line-item pricing before any work begins, per Mason Remodeling Co Miami standard
The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails within 365 days of completion, we return and make it right at no cost to you. Parts carry the Schluter manufacturer warranty; our install carries the Mason guarantee.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely check: rail alignment, gate hinge tightness, visual rust, and whether tiles are loose on the cap. These are inspection tasks. No special tools, no risk.
What you should not do yourself: replacing a structural post, resetting a footing, or removing a tensioned gate. Schluter gates typically carry spring-assisted hinges, and that spring is under constant load. Release it wrong and the gate can drop hard enough to break a wrist. Same caution applies to any post set in concrete: the old footing has to come out entirely, and that means digging below the soil wash line in Miami’s limestone-heavy ground. We have the equipment and the crew to do it without tearing up your irrigation lines.
Our pricing is flat and written. Tell me what you need done. I’ll tell you what it costs and when it’s finished – and I’ll mean both. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll come measure.
FAQs

A properly installed Schluter fence in Miami lasts 15 to 25 years, depending on salt exposure. Homes within two miles of Biscayne Bay or the ocean will see faster corrosion on hardware than inland Miami neighborhoods like Westchester. Aluminum Schluter components hold up longer than the steel hardware in direct salt spray. Call (850) 780-8123 for an exact assessment of your fence’s condition and a written quote.
Yes, if the failure is limited to brackets, grub screws, rail support, or gate hinges. If the post itself is rusted through at the base, repair is a band-aid. That post needs to come out, and the footer needs to be re-set. We’ll tell you which one you’re dealing with before we quote anything. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll come look.
A standard rail-and-hardware replacement is one day. If posts need to be re-set in new concrete, allow two days so the footing can cure before we hang the rail. We schedule the concrete pour around Miami’s rain on purpose: no point setting posts in footing that washes out the same afternoon.
We stock Schluter rails, brackets, spacers, grub screws, and trim profiles on our trucks. We also carry compatible trim lines from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone where the installation calls for a non-Schluter finish. If your specific profile needs a special order from Schluter, we handle that and keep the job on schedule. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
