Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Oldcastle-compatible driveway pavers and replacement units across Miami, with most paver repairs and paver driveway installations running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and access. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a paver sinks after a heavy rain, a edge row starts drifting into the lawn, or a corner unit cracks under a delivery truck. You don’t need a full teardown. In a lot of Miami cases, the fix is localized replacement and re-compaction, not a new driveway.

Mason Remodeling Co Miami is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Oldcastle, but we work with their paver lines regularly and know what matches, what doesn’t, and what fails first in South Florida soil.
Which Oldcastle Models This Applies To

Oldcastle manufactures several paver families you’ll see throughout Miami driveways, patios, and pool decks. The lines we match most often are the Holland Stone, Coventry Cobble, and the larger Plaza slab formats. Each has different joint widths and thickness ratings, and that matters more than most homeowners expect.
The critical spec is thickness. Oldcastle driveway pavers are typically 60mm or 80mm. If your originals are 60mm and you drop an 80mm replacement into the same spot, you get a trip edge. If you do the reverse, the new paver sits low and water pools on it. We measure every unit before ordering matches, because Oldcastle’s color blends also shift slightly between production runs. A 2018 Coventry Cobble in Sandlewood won’t always match a 2024 unit in the same named color. When a close match isn’t possible, we pull pavers from a less visible section of your own driveway to use in the high-traffic area, and install the newer units where the slight color difference won’t catch the eye.
If you can find the original invoice, the SKU is printed there. If not, we identify the line by joint style and surface texture on-site and source the closest OEM or quality aftermarket equivalent. For most Miami driveways, a quality aftermarket match from a manufacturer like Belgard or Unilock performs as well as OEM, costs 10 – 20% less, and is in stock locally more often. We also stock parts and match lines for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on the interior side of our business, but for hardscaping, Oldcastle is a frequent request.

Signs Your Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or low spots after rain. This usually means the sand bedding has washed out underneath, not that the paver itself failed. Miami’s heavy summer rains move fine sand through joints faster than most people realize. If we catch it early, we lift the affected section, re-set the base, and re-compact. If it’s ignored, the pavers start rocking and cracking.
- Edge rows drifting outward. Paver driveways need a rigid edge restraint. In Miami, plastic edge restraints degrade faster in the heat and UV than concrete ones do. The moment an edge row shifts, every paver behind it starts loosening. We fix this with a new concrete haunch edge and re-set the displaced units.
- Cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. A single cracked unit is one thing. A crack line across three or four pavers usually means the base underneath has a failure point: a tree root, an old stump hole, or improperly compacted fill. Replacing the pavers without fixing the base means they’ll crack again within a season or two.
- Joint sand disappearing constantly. If you sweep polymeric sand into the joints and it’s gone after two storms, you have either poor drainage or too-wide joints. Oldcastle units with a chamfered edge create wider surface joints that spill sand faster. We re-grade the slope or switch to a coarser joint material that holds better under Miami rainfall.
- White haze on the surface. This is efflorescence, common on concrete pavers in humid climates. It’s a cosmetic issue, not a structural one, but Miami’s humidity makes it appear faster and stay longer. We can clean and seal the surface without disturbing the driveway, though sealing is its own cost and should be discussed separately.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a targeted Oldcastle paver replacement in Miami, you’re typically looking at $8,260 – $21,240 for a full driveway installation, with localized repair work scaling down from there. Most partial repairs we quote fall between $1,500 and $4,500 depending on how many units need pulling and whether the base needs re-compaction. The range is driven by three things: how many pavers are being replaced, whether the sub-base has failed or is still stable, and whether we’re doing a color match from existing stock or sourcing a specific production run.

What’s in the number: labor, replacement pavers, bedding sand, joint sand, base repair if needed, and haul-away of the broken units. No change orders halfway through because we discovered something unexpected. We put the price in writing before any work starts, and it stays that price. If we tell you $3,200 for an edge repair, that’s what the invoice says when we’re done. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a safe middle ground here. You can check for yourself whether a low paver wobbles by stepping on each corner, and you can check whether edge restraints are still connected. But pulling pavers yourself is where things go wrong fast. If the base has failed, the hole gets bigger as you dig. If you don’t have the right joint sand, you create a drainage problem that wasn’t there before. And Oldcastle’s tighter joint patterns mean getting a replacement back in without chipping the edges takes practice and the right rubber mallet technique. This isn’t a dangerous repair, but it’s one where half the job is knowing what’s underneath the paver before you lift it. A wrong guess doubles the repair bill.

FAQs

Oldcastle concrete pavers in Miami’s climate typically last 25 – 40 years, but the base underneath usually needs attention every 10 – 15 years due to Miami’s heavy rainfall and shifting sandy soil. The pavers themselves rarely wear out; what fails is the bedding sand and edge restraint system. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll tell you whether your pavers need replacing or just re-setting.
Yes, in most cases a single cracked or stained Oldcastle paver can be lifted and replaced without touching the surrounding units, as long as the base underneath is stable. If the crack came from a base failure, we’ll address that first so the replacement doesn’t crack the same way. Estimates are free, so call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll give you an exact number.
A localized paver replacement or edge repair in Miami typically takes 1 – 2 days, including base repair, re-setting, and joint sand. Full driveway replacements run 3 – 5 days depending on square footage and whether the old base needs full excavation. We’ll give you the schedule in writing before work starts.
We keep common Oldcastle Holland Stone and Coventry Cobble units in stock in the most popular Miami color blends, but specific color lots or slab formats usually need to be ordered. We measure and source the closest match first, and if the color difference is noticeable, we’ll move things around so any new units sit where they’re least visible. Call (850) 780-8123 and tell us the paver line and color if you know it.
