ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have ECO Window Systems windows or doors in your kitchen and you’re planning a remodel, we can help. A full kitchen remodel with ECO Window Systems window or door integration in Miami typically runs $16,520 to $53,100, depending on how many openings you’re reworking and what’s behind the drywall. Most owners don’t realize the window flashing was compromised until the cabinets come down and they see water staining in the framing.

The conversation usually starts the same way: you want new cabinets, new counters, maybe a bigger island, and at some point the existing window needs to move, resize, or get a new sill. That’s where a kitchen remodel stops being cosmetic and starts being structural. In Miami, salt air and hurricane codes mean that window opening isn’t a simple frame-out. It has to be flashed, sealed, and flashed again, and the ECO Window Systems unit has to be re-set to spec or it’ll leak in the first heavy rain.
We’ve been doing this work in Miami since relocating our operation here well over a decade ago. Tell me what you need done. I’ll tell you what it costs and when it’s finished, and I’ll mean both.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems makes impact-rated and non-impact windows and doors in several series, and the kitchen remodel questions we get usually involve the ECO 900 Series single-hung, the ECO 800 Series casement, or their fixed picture windows over a sink. If you don’t know which one you have, look for the small white label on the inside edge of the operable sash. It’ll have the series number, glass type, and size stamped on it. That label is the fastest way to get the right replacement glass, sash, or balance.
One compatibility gotcha we see in Miami kitchens: the 900 Series uses a different balance spring than the older 700 Series, and they are not interchangeable. You can’t put a 900 balance in a 700 frame without re-drilling the jamb, and even then the tilt latch won’t seat right. If your window predates 2015, assume you need OEM parts or a custom-order sash. The 800 Series casement uses a different hinge system, and the crank operator gears strip faster in coastal humidity than you’d expect.
For the remodel side, the more important question is whether to keep the existing window and build around it, or replace it while the wall is open. If your ECO unit is more than 12 years old and shows any fogging between the panes, replace it during the remodel. The wall is open. The labor is already in the budget. Installing a new impact-rated unit then costs about 40 percent less than coming back later and cutting through new tile.
Mason Remodeling Co Miami is an independent service provider and not affiliated with ECO Window Systems. We stock common ECO-compatible parts locally and order direct from the manufacturer when the spec requires it. We also work with other brands in the same opening, including KraftMaid for cabinetry, and Cambria or Silestone when you want a quartz surface that’ll hold up to Miami humidity.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Water staining on the drywall below or beside the window. This usually means the original flashing tape failed or was never layered correctly against the Miami code requirement. The fix is pull the window, re-flash the rough opening, and re-set it. Paint won’t stop it.
- The sash won’t stay up without a prop. The balance spring or block-and-tackle assembly has lost tension. On ECO 900 Series units in Miami kitchens, we replace these more than any other single part. It’s a 20-minute fix if you have the right balance, a two-hour headache if you don’t.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The seal has failed and the argon or krypton fill is gone. You can’t clean the inside of a sealed unit. That’s a replacement IGU, and if the window is being kept in a remodel, it’s exactly the moment to order it.
- The casement crank turns but the sash barely moves. The operator gear teeth are either stripped or the hinge arms have corroded. Salt air does a number on the pot-metal gears in the 800 Series. In Miami, we swap these operators routinely within five years of install.
- You hear the window rattle when the kitchen exhaust fan runs or a door closes. That’s a frame that’s no longer square in the rough opening, or a bad weather-strip compression. It won’t pass a Miami-Dade pressure test, and it’s a symptom to catch before you build a tile backsplash right up to the edges.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A kitchen remodel that involves reworking, relocating, or replacing ECO Window Systems windows in Miami lands between $16,520 and $53,100 on the full project. A small kitchen with one window over the sink runs $10,620 to $23,600. If you’re only replacing the window itself while everything else stays put, a single impact-rated ECO unit with install runs $944 to $2,950, depending on size and whether the frame stays in place.
The range is driven by a few things nobody prices until the wall is open: the condition of the rough opening, whether the header was undersized, how many new openings you want, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. Parts and labor are listed separately on every quote. You see the window cost, the flashing material cost, the install labor, and the finish work as line items. If something else is discovered after we open the wall, you get a written change order before any additional work starts, never a surprise on the final bill.
Every ECO Window Systems kitchen remodel job we do in Miami comes with a written price before any work starts, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the work is not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things you can check safely. Look at the label to get the model. Look for daylight between the frame and the rough opening. Run your hand around the interior sill after a heavy rain to feel for moisture. Those are useful things to tell us when you call.
But pulling and re-setting an ECO Window Systems unit in a Miami kitchen is not a weekend job. Impact-rated windows are heavy, often 60 to 90 pounds per sash, and a dropped unit can shatter or take a hand off. If the original flashing was done wrong, a contractor who knows Miami-Dade code has to pull the window, re-flash the opening with the right layering, and set the unit with the right reveal. Done wrong, it’ll leak inside the wall for years before you see it. That’s how a $500 fix becomes a $5,000 rot repair.
Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll get you a straight number. You get a written price before any work begins. And if a repair or install fails, we come back at no charge. No dispute process. No conditions.
FAQs

An impact-rated ECO unit in Miami’s heat and salt air typically lasts 15 to 20 years before the seals or hardware give out, though you’ll likely replace the balance springs and weather stripping at the 8 to 10-year mark. Call (850) 780-8123 if you want us to assess the specific unit in your kitchen; the assessment is part of the free estimate.
Yes, if the frame is square and the glass is intact. We replace balances, tilt latches, casement operators, and weather stripping regularly in Miami. If the IGU seal is failed or the frame is racked, replacement is usually the more honest number. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.
A single window swap inside an active kitchen remodel in Miami is usually done in one day, from removal through re-flashing, re-setting, and interior trim. If your remodel includes relocating the window or adding a new opening, plan for two to three days, including dry-in and any needed inspection coordination.
We stock common ECO balance springs, tilt latches, casement operators, and weather stripping on our Miami trucks. Custom IGUs and full sashes are ordered direct from the manufacturer and typically arrive within seven to ten business days. Call (850) 780-8123 with the label info from your window and we’ll tell you what’s in stock today.
It won’t unless you approve a change. We write the price before work begins, and if we find something inside the wall that needs attention, you get a written change order with its own price before we spend a nickel of your money. That’s the rule on every Mason Remodeling Co Miami job, no exceptions.
