CWS Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install CWS-compatible driveway and paver components throughout Miami, with most paver driveway installations running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver style. If you’re searching for a specific CWS part, odds are you’ve noticed something that wasn’t there last month: a sunken edge near the garage apron, a cracked paver that’s now crumbling at the corner, or water pooling where it used to drain clean. You want the part matched, priced, and handled without a second visit.

Most Miami homeowners call us after a storm, actually. Heavy rain exposes what was quietly failing underneath. A paver that shifted a quarter inch becomes a tripping hazard. A hairline crack becomes a spiderweb after one hot afternoon and one cool night. By the time you’re searching for the part, the problem has usually been developing for six to twelve months.

Here’s what we’ve learned from years of paver and driveway work in Miami’s heat and humidity: the paver itself is rarely the root cause. It’s almost always what’s under it. We’ll get to that below.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS produces driveway pavers in multiple product lines, and the compatibility gotcha is real: CWS interlocking pavers are not universally interchangeable across all their series. The locking geometry differs slightly between their permeable and non-permeable lines. If you grab a paver from one series and drop it into a driveway built with another, the joints won’t seat flush. You’ll see lippage, uneven gaps, and a driveway that looks patched instead of repaired.

Here’s how to identify what you have. Flip over a loose paver. CWS stamps the series code and manufacturing batch on the underside, typically a two-letter prefix followed by four digits. The color and style matter, but the series code matters more. Take a photo of that stamp before you call us. If the paver is mortared in place and you can’t flip it, measure it: CWS paver thickness runs 60mm, 80mm, or 100mm depending on the line, and driveway-rated pavers are almost always 80mm or thicker. Thinner pavers are pedestrian-grade and will crack under vehicle weight in Miami’s expanding clay soils.

On OEM versus aftermarket: CWS still produces most current series pavers, and we source OEM where color match is critical. For discontinued CWS lines, we work with several spec-grade aftermarket manufacturers who replicate the color mix and dimensional tolerance closely enough that the repair disappears. We’ll always tell you which route we’re taking and why, and we’ll show you the match before we set it.

Signs Your CWS Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sunken or low spots near the edges. This is base failure, not paver failure. Miami’s heavy rains wash fines out of the compacted base over time, and the pavers follow the void downward. You’ll notice water pooling in the same area after every storm.
  • Cracking along a consistent line. A single cracked paver is one thing. A crack running across four or five pavers in a straight line points to a settling seam in the subgrade or a tree root pushing up from below. The paver is just the messenger.
  • Sand washing out between joints. After a heavy rain, you’ll see fine sand pooling at the driveway’s low point or staining the street gutter. Joint sand is what locks the pavers together laterally. When it goes, the pavers start drifting and the edges loosen.
  • Weeds or grass growing through joints. This tells you the joint sand is gone and organic material has taken its place. In Miami’s growing season, that happens fast. The roots push the pavers apart from below, widening the gaps and accelerating the damage.
  • Edging that’s pulling away from the pavers. The plastic or aluminum restraint holding the driveway perimeter has failed or been hit by a mower. Without it, the outer pavers walk outward, the pattern opens up, and the whole driveway loses its structural lock.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

In Miami, full paver driveway installation runs $8,260 – $21,240. A partial repair, where we replace a section of failed pavers and recompact the base beneath, typically falls between $800 and $3,500 depending on square footage and how much base material we need to excavate and rebuild. This should give you a working number before you pick up the phone.

What drives the range: paver style (standard versus tumbled versus permeable), thickness, total square footage, access to the work area, and how much of the existing base is salvageable. If the base is shot, we remove it and start clean with new compacted aggregate. That’s the bulk of the labor.

Every quote is written and line-itemed before we begin. No verbal ballparks that grow on the final bill. The price you approve is the price you pay. We pull permits when the scope requires it, and the work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair or installation fails within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost to you.

Isaac Pruett has been reading Miami job sites long enough to know that a “quick paver swap” is almost never quick if the base is compromised. He’ll tell you what he finds, what it costs, and when it’ll be done. And he’ll mean all three.

DIY or Call Us?

Pavers are not high-tension components like garage springs or electrical panels, so safe inspection is on the table. You can check the underside stamp on a loose paver, take photos of the cracked area, and note where water pools after rain. That information helps us price the job before we arrive.

Where DIY goes wrong: homeowners replace the visible broken paver without fixing the base failure underneath, and six months later the same spot sinks again. Or the color is slightly off, and now the driveway has a patch that catches every eye. Or they buy the wrong thickness, and the first parked car cracks the new paver in a week. If the paver is part of a structural edge or load-bearing driveway section, call us. We stock common CWS replacement pavers and the base materials on our trucks, and we’ll tell you straight whether this is a half-day repair or a base rebuild.

Call (850) 780-8123 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll give you an honest read and a written price before any work begins.
