CGI Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

CGI fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a standard residential perimeter, installed. We stock CGI-compatible panels, posts, brackets, and hardware on our trucks, and most replacements are done in one visit. Most owners find out their CGI fencing has failed the hard way: a post leans after a storm, a gate drags on the concrete, or a panel blows loose overnight and the dog gets out.

That last one is the call we get most often in Miami. Hurricane season winds find every weak weld and rust-pitted post in a fence. The fence that held fine for ten years suddenly has a section flapping, and now you’re trying to figure out if it’s a repair or a tear-out. We’ll tell you straight, and the number won’t change once we start.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

CGI manufactures aluminum fence systems under several product lines, and the compatibility details matter more than most homeowners expect. The two most common residential lines we work on in Miami are the CGI Estate and CGI Classic series, with the Estate line running heavier-gauge pickets and wider rails for larger lots. The commercial-grade CGI Commercial line shows up on some larger Miami properties too, usually around pools or waterfront edges.

Here’s what to check before you call us: most CGI panels and posts carry a small metal tag or stamped code near the bottom rail. If it’s weathered off, measure the picket spacing and the exact post dimensions. CGI posts are typically 2″ × 2″ or 2.5″ × 2.5″ square aluminum, and panels interchange only within the same series. Mixing Estate panels with Classic posts is the single most common mistake we see from weekend installs, and the panel sits a half-inch proud of the post. That half-inch catches wind and eventually shears the bracket screws.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for most CGI fence installation work, we recommend OEM panels where the fence is visible from the street or adjacent to a neighbor’s matching fence. The factory powder coat color codes don’t match across manufacturers, even when the sample chips look close. For interior runs or gates, a quality aftermarket post sleeve or bracket works fine and can save $400 to $700 on a full replacement. We’ll quote both and let you decide; they both go in the same day.

Signs Your CGI Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts at the gate or corners. This usually means the concrete footing wasn’t deep enough or the post was set in soil that sits wet. In Miami’s sandy limestone mix, a post set at 24″ instead of 30″ below grade leans within two to four years. The fix is pulling the post, re-setting it with proper depth and more concrete, then re-hanging the gate.
  • A gate that scrapes or won’t latch. South Florida humidity swells and shifts the concrete pad under the gate, and the hinge side settles. If you’re adjusting the latch every few months, the frame is out of square. We square it, shim the hinges, and typically replace the latch plate rather than the gate itself.
  • Rust bleeding from bracket screws or under the post cap. CGI aluminum resists rust, but the hardware isn’t all stainless on older installs. Once a zinc or steel screw rusts, it pits the surrounding aluminum and the bracket loosens. The panel doesn’t fall out right away; it rattles. That rattle is the warning.
  • Panels that flex when you push on them. A properly installed CGI panel should feel rigid. Flex points to missing or wallowed-out bracket screws, or a mid-rail that’s no longer seated. This is a structural issue, not a cosmetic one. A flexing panel in a tropical-storm wind gust becomes a projectile.
  • White chalky streaks running down from the post caps. That’s galvanic corrosion, usually from a steel cap or steel screw in contact with the aluminum post. It’s superficial at first, but it’s the starting point for pinhole corrosion in the post itself. The fix is a stainless post cap and a quick clean, and it costs far less than replacing the post in three years.

The failure pattern changes by Miami neighborhood. In Coconut Grove, we see more gate-sag issues from the tree roots and older concrete pads. In newer subdivisions out west, it’s usually wind-load failures from fences installed quickly during the building boom. The aluminum itself almost never fails. The installation details do.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled living room with built-in shelves around the fireplace

For a full CGI fence installation in Miami, you’re looking at $4,130 to $10,620 installed, with most standard residential lots landing between $5,500 and $8,000. That range covers the panel and post cost, concrete for the footings, bracket hardware, gate hardware, and our labor. A straight replacement of one failed section without gates runs lower, typically $700 to $1,800 depending on panel length and whether the existing posts are sound.

The big cost drivers are linear footage, gate count, and what’s underneath the fence line. We’re upfront about what goes into each quote:

  • Panels and posts (materials): 45 – 60% of the job cost, depending on series and height
  • Concrete and hardware: 10 – 15%
  • Labor and old-fence haul-away: 25 – 35%
  • Gate hardware (hinges, latch, closer): included in the gate line item, not buried

Every CGI fence installation we do includes a written price before work starts. No change order games, no “unexpected” footing costs after digging. And it’s covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the installation isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost. A live person answers our phone 24/7. Call (850) 780-8123 and you’ll talk to a person, not a menu.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the obvious stuff: push on each panel to find flex, look for white corrosion streaks, and check whether the gate latch lines up. That tells you the scope, and it’s useful when you call us.

What we don’t recommend is pulling and replacing a CGI post yourself. The footing removal involves a jackhammer or a post-puller, the new post has to be set plumb in wet concrete while you hold it level, and if you get the depth wrong in Miami soil, you’re doing the same job again in two years. We’ve also pulled more than one “quick fix” post that was set in a half-bag of quick-set with no gravel base, and the fence was leaning again before the rainy season ended. If you’re unsure, call us and describe what you’re seeing. Isaac Pruett will give you a straight number and tell you whether it’s worth a repair or a replacement.

Tell me what you need done. I’ll tell you what it costs and when it’s finished – and I’ll mean both.
