Cambria Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Cambria driveway and paver work in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $21,240 installed, depending on whether you’re sealing an existing surface, replacing a section, or rebuilding the full driveway. We stock Cambria-compatible pavers and edge restraints on our trucks and can usually start within a few days of your free estimate. Most Miami homeowners discover they need this work after a hard rain exposes sinking pavers, or a delivery truck leaves a permanent rut in the drive.

What you’re dealing with is usually one of three things: a base layer that was never compacted right for Miami’s sandy limestone soil, pavers that have shifted out of their edge restraints, or surface wear from salt air and sun. The good news is none of these require tearing out your whole driveway. The honest news is that patching over a bad base is money thrown at the same problem twice.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria’s hardscape line includes three families that show up most often in Miami: the Estate Series (large-format slabs, 24×24 and 16×32), the Metro Series (modular rectangles that interlock in a running bond), and the Permeable line designed for Miami-Dade’s drainage codes. Each uses a different joint width and base depth spec, so matching is not a guess.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners hit: Cambria changed the paver thickness spec in 2019 from 60mm to 80mm on the Estate Series for driveway use. If your driveway was installed before then, the 60mm pavers you have are no longer made. You cannot just drop in a new 80mm paver next to an old 60mm one and expect a flush surface. We source quality aftermarket equivalents that match the old thickness, or we can re-level and transition the section properly. A genuine Cambria part will have a small imprint on the underside with the series code. If that stamp is worn off, measure the thickness with a coin: a quarter is 1.75mm, so four quarters stacked equals roughly 7mm, close enough to tell a 60 from an 80.
One more Miami-specific note: if you’re in Coconut Grove or anywhere with mature ficus or oak roots near the drive, the paver itself is rarely the problem. It’s the edge restraint failing and letting roots push the field apart. We see this weekly in the Grove. Cambria’s current aluminum edge restraint holds up better than the older plastic version, but neither survives a ficus root that wants the space.

Signs Your Cambria Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Paver is sitting lower than its neighbor. This is almost always a base compaction issue, not a broken paver. Miami’s rainy season washes fines out from under the sand bed, and gravity does the rest. The paver is fine. The ground under it is not.
- Joint sand is gone after every heavy rain. Polymer sand should lock and stay put for years. If it washes out, either the wrong sand was used, or water is channeling across the drive instead of sheeting off. That drainage problem will keep eating whatever you put in the joints.
- Edge pavers are spreading outward into the lawn. Once the edge restraint lets go, the entire field starts walking toward the weakest side. You will see a gap open up at the garage apron first. Left alone, it gets worse every time a car turns the wheels on the drive.
- White haze or pitting on the surface. Salt air near the coast and pool chemicals splashed onto pavers etch the surface over time. It is cosmetic at first, but pitting lets water sit and accelerates wear. Sealing buys years if it is done before the surface gets rough.
- Weeds pushing up through the joints from underneath. Weeds growing down from the top are normal and easy to pull. Weeds growing up through the paver bed mean the base layer has organic material in it, which should never have been there. That is an original install error, not a maintenance issue.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a paver driveway repair or section replacement in Miami, you are looking at:
- Paver patio installation: $4,130 – $12,980
- Paver driveway installation: $8,260 – $21,240
- Driveway replacement (mixed material): $5,900 – $16,520
- Driveway sealing: $295 – $825
Where your project lands depends on square footage, how much of the base needs re-compacting or rebuilding, and whether we are matching existing 60mm pavers or working with current 80mm stock. Every quote from us is a written line-item price before any work starts. You will see the cost of materials, labor, base work, haul-away, and sealer as separate lines. There are no verbal estimates that grow later, and no change orders unless you change the scope. Our workmanship is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something is not right within a year of completion, we fix it at no cost to you.
Isaac Pruett handles the material takeoffs himself because he has torn out enough bad paver jobs in Miami to know what the original installer skipped. You will get a straight number from the first visit, not a range that doubles after “unforeseen conditions” get discovered.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle surface cleaning, pulling surface weeds, and picking up loose debris before it scratches the paver finish. You can also use a rubber mallet to tap a single paver back into place if it has lifted evenly and the base is still solid underneath. That is about where safe DIY ends on a driveway.
What goes wrong is when an owner tries to re-level a section by lifting pavers and adding sand. Pavers are a system: edge restraint, base, bedding sand, pavers, joint sand. If the base under a sagging area has washed out, adding sand on top just delays the same sag by a few months, and now the surrounding pavers are out of plane with the patch. If the edge restraint has failed, any fix to the field without replacing the restraint is temporary. And if you have a root pushing up, no amount of sand wins that fight. We get called after the second or third DIY attempt more often than after the first, because the first failure gets written off as a normal Miami thing. It is not normal. It means the original base was not compacted to 95% Proctor density per Miami-Dade code, and that is a repair, not a weekend project.

FAQs

A properly installed Cambria paver driveway in Miami lasts 25 to 40 years with basic sealing every 3 to 5 years. The pavers themselves rarely fail. What fails first is usually the edge restraint (plastic versions last about 8 to 10 years in our sun) or the base if it was under-compacted at installation. Call (850) 780-8123 if you want us to look at your edge conditions before they spread.
Yes, if the problem is a single cracked paver or a small set of sunken ones and the base underneath is still solid, we can swap and re-level just that section. If the edge restraint has failed or the base has washed out, a spot repair will not hold. Call (850) 780-8123 and describe what you are seeing; we will tell you which situation you are in.
A section repair takes one to two days depending on how much base rework is needed. A full driveway replacement runs three to five days from tear-out through final compaction and joint sand. We give you the schedule in writing with your price, and we finish within it. Call (850) 780-8123 for a free estimate and a firm timeline.
We carry Cambria-compatible 80mm pavers, edge restraints, polymer sand, and base material on our service trucks, along with aftermarket 60mm equivalents for pre-2019 installs. We also keep matching hardware for KraftMaid cabinet jobs, Silestone surface work, and Kohler fixture installs, so if your project touches more than the driveway we can handle it in one visit. If you need something outside our normal stock, we order it and give you the arrival date before you commit.
Mason Remodeling Co Miami is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Cambria. We install and repair Cambria products because Miami homeowners ask us to, and because we know the product line well enough to tell you when the paver is not the real problem.
If your driveway is sinking, spreading at the edges, or just looking worse than the house it leads to, call (850) 780-8123. Tell us what you need done. Isaac will tell you what it costs and when it is finished, and he will mean both.
