Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you own a home with Cover kitchen finishes, cabinetry, or countertops and they’re starting to fail, we can replace them. Full kitchen remodels in Miami run $16,520 to $53,100 installed, depending on materials, square footage, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. Most Cover owners reach out to us after they notice drawer fronts loosening, laminate edges peeling at the sink, or countertop seams separating from humidity. We stock Cover-compatible parts, and a crew can usually start within a week.

We’re Mason Remodeling Co Miami. We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with Cover. But we’ve torn out and replaced enough Cover kitchens across Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and Kendall to know exactly what fails and what it takes to fix it right.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover kitchens were built with a few different cabinet and countertop lines, and the replacement parts are not universal. The most common lines we see in Miami homes are the Cover Essentials Series, the Cover Signature Series, and the Cover Select line. Essentials used 5/8-inch particleboard boxes with thermofoil doors. Signature moved to 3/4-inch plywood boxes with solid wood doors. Select was the budget line, and those doors delaminate fastest in South Florida humidity.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: Cover changed their hinge boring pattern between 2012 and 2016. Older cabinets use a 35mm cup hole at 3mm setback. Newer boxes use the same cup at 5mm. If you order a door for the wrong era, it won’t sit flush no matter how many times you adjust the hinge. We measure before we order, every time, because we’ve watched homeowners buy the wrong door twice.
For replacement, OEM Cover parts are still available for most lines, but lead times run 4 to 6 weeks, and the pricing reflects the name. We carry quality aftermarket equivalents from KraftMaid and Wellborn that match or exceed Cover specs at roughly 20 to 30 percent less on doors and drawer boxes. For countertops, Cambria and Silestone both make direct-fit options for Cover’s standard 25.5-inch depth.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer fronts pulling away from the box. Cover attached many drawer faces with dowels and glue, not screws. Once the glue fails in Miami’s humidity cycle, the face starts to lean forward and eventually drops off. We see this constantly in older Essentials kitchens.
- Thermofoil peeling at the bottom edge. Heat from the dishwasher or oven vent softens the adhesive behind the plastic layer. It bubbles first, then peels in sheets. There’s no good glue fix. The door gets replaced.
- Laminate countertop seam lifting near the sink. Water sits at that seam, the substrate swells, and the seam opens. You can feel it with a fingernail before you can see it. Once the MDF core swells, the whole section’s done.
- Soft-close hinges slamming or not catching. Cover used a specific Blum-style clip hinge that wears at the pivot. You can swap the hinge, but if the cup hole is wallowed out, the door needs a repair plate or a new box.
- Shelves sagging and pulling pin supports loose. The adjustable shelf pins in Cover cabinets press into bare particleboard. After a decade of dishes, the holes elongate and the shelves dip. That’s a box problem, not a shelf problem.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Cover kitchen remodel in Miami runs $16,520 to $53,100. A smaller galley kitchen with stock doors and laminate counters lands at the bottom of that range. A full replacement with plywood cabinet boxes, quartz counters from Cambria or Silestone, and new hardware runs to the top. Here’s how the typical project breaks down:
- Cabinet installation: $4,720 to $15,340
- Countertop installation: $2,360 to $7,670
- Backsplash installation: $945 to $2,950
- Kitchen island installation: $3,540 to $11,800
- Full kitchen remodel (labor and materials): $16,520 to $53,100
Every quote is written. You get a line-item price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t change unless you change the scope. We don’t do change orders with surprise invoices. The workmanship is guaranteed for 365 days from the completion date, in writing, with the terms spelled out plain. If something fails within that year, we come back and fix it at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely check on your own: loose hinges (tighten the screws, but don’t strip them), shelf pins that popped out, and whether the doors are actually out of square or just need a hinge adjustment. Those are 10-minute fixes with a screwdriver.
What you should not do yourself: replacing cabinet boxes, refacing doors, or cutting countertops. Once you disassemble a Cover cabinet box, you’ll find it was assembled with staples and glue, not joinery. It will not go back together square. And cutting quartz or stone without the right blade and water feed ruins the slab and fills your house with silica dust. That’s a respirator job for a reason.

FAQs

Plan on 10 to 15 years for Cover cabinets in South Florida, and 8 to 12 for the laminate counters. The humidity and salt air shorten those numbers compared to drier climates. Thermofoil doors fail earliest in kitchens without good ventilation.
Sometimes. Loose hinges, worn soft-close mechanisms, and shelf pins are repairable. But delaminating thermofoil, swollen particleboard, and pulled-apart drawer boxes are not. Once the substrate is compromised, patching just buys you six months. We’ll tell you which one you have before you spend a dollar. Call (850) 780-8123.
A full tear-out and replacement typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on countertop fabrication lead times and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. Cabinet-only swaps run faster. We give you a schedule in writing with the quote, and we finish within that schedule.
We keep common Cover hinge replacements, soft-close mechanisms, and drawer slides on the truck. Doors, drawer faces, and countertops are ordered to spec, with aftermarket options from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone typically arriving faster than OEM Cover parts.
