Techo-Bloc Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you’re dealing with a failed Techo-Bloc paver, wall block, or drainage channel inside a bathroom, or you’re planning a Techo-Bloc surround for a wet area, the typical installed bathroom remodel in Miami runs $10,620 to $33,040 depending on scope. We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible components for shower surrounds, bathroom floors, and accent walls, and we can match existing hardscape colors and finishes from photos or on-site measurements. How most Miami homeowners find out a Techo-Bloc product failed in this setting: water sits against a wall block that wasn’t sealed for interior use, a paver cracks under a freestanding tub, or a vinyl patch from some other contractor starts peeling back at the corners.

Mason Remodeling Co Miami is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Techo-Bloc, but we order directly from their Miami distribution network and have been installing their product lines in bathrooms and wet areas for over a decade. Isaac Pruett and his crew have pulled enough cracked pavers out of Coconut Grove bathrooms to know exactly how this goes.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc makes hardscaping products, not bathroom fixtures. The materials that show up in Miami bathroom remodels are usually repurposed from their paver and wall block lines: Blu 60 mm pavers as shower floors, Borealis or Semma wall blocks as feature walls, and occasionally a Raffinato paver for a bathroom entry transition. These products were engineered for exterior freeze-thaw cycles and foot traffic, which means most hold up fine indoors as long as the substrate and sealing are right.
The compatibility gotcha most Miami homeowners run into is thickness. Techo-Bloc pavers are 60 mm to 80 mm thick. Standard bathroom tile is 8 mm to 12 mm. If you’re planning a Techo-Bloc bathroom floor, your subfloor and transition heights need to be planned around that difference from day one, or every doorway becomes a trip hazard. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Techo-Bloc’s own color-matching is consistent batch to batch, and we order OEM for any visual surface. For hidden components like drainage channels and edge restraints, we use quality aftermarket equivalents that meet the same load specs and save real money. You give us a color name and a batch photo; we match it.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Efflorescence blooming across paver surfaces. White chalky residue means moisture is wicking through the paver and carrying minerals to the surface. In a Miami bathroom without proper waterproofing behind the paver, this shows up within six months.
- Hollow-sounding pavers underfoot. Tap a section with a screwdriver handle. If it sounds hollow and loose, the thinset or mortar bed has debonded. Standing water in a shower pan only accelerates it.
- Cracks radiating from one corner of a paver. This usually means the subfloor flexed, not that the paver failed. Miami homes on slab see fewer of these; second-floor bathrooms with wood-framed floors see more.
- Discolored grout lines or caulk pulling away consistently. Water is getting behind the surface. By the time caulk pulls away on its own, mold or loose mortar behind it is a safe bet in this climate.
- Standing water that doesn’t drain toward the channel. Techo-Bloc shower floors need slope like any hardscape. If water pools, either the mud bed was pitched wrong during the last install or a channel is clogged. Both are fixable; the longer you wait, the more it spreads.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full Techo-Bloc bathroom remodel in Miami runs $10,620 to $33,040. A smaller job, like a Techo-Bloc shower floor replacement or a single wall rebuild, lands in the $5,900 to $14,160 range. What drives the spread: whether this is a full gut with new waterproofing and plumbing, or a targeted repair; which Techo-Bloc line you’re matching; and whether we’re working on a slab or a raised foundation.
Every estimate we give is a written price before any work starts. That price includes demo, substrate prep, materials, install, and a written guarantee covering our workmanship for 365 days from the completion date. If a paver cracks or a wall shifts within that year and it’s our fault, we come back and fix it at no charge. No change orders. No “we found rot and the price went up” conversation after day one, unless you approve it in writing first.

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before you call anyone: tap for hollow spots, look for pooling water after a shower, and inspect the caulk lines where paver meets wall. That tells us a lot. What you should not do is pry up a Techo-Bloc paver yourself. These are thick, heavy units bedded in mortar. A slipped pry bar takes a chunk out of the neighboring paver, and that chunk always lands on something expensive. If the concern is anything structural, wall block, or where water has clearly been penetrating, leave it alone and get a pro in.
Most Techo-Bloc bathroom problems we fix in one or two visits, and the second visit is free if something fails. Call (850) 780-8123 and tell us what you’re seeing. Isaac will tell you what it costs and when it’s finished, and he’ll mean both.
FAQs

A properly waterproofed Techo-Bloc bathroom floor or wall should last 20 to 30 years in Miami’s humidity, with caulk touch-ups every few years. The pavers themselves are not the failure point; the substrate and waterproofing behind them are. Most failures we see start as water intrusion, not product failure. Call (850) 780-8123 for an honest assessment of what you have.
If a single paver cracked from impact, we can often cut it out and replace just that unit plus res-matching grout. If the crack came from subfloor movement, replacing one paver buys you six months before the next one goes. We diagnose before we quote, and the fix is priced either way. Call (850) 780-8123 to schedule a look.
A shower floor or single wall replacement typically takes two to four working days. A full bathroom gut with Techo-Bloc surfaces runs two to three weeks. We give you a schedule in writing before work starts, and Isaac is known for finishing within the schedule he quoted. Call (850) 780-8123 for a timeline on your specific scope.
We carry common Techo-Bloc pavers, wall block, and drainage channels on the truck for the lines we install most in Miami. Specialty colors or less common series usually ship from Techo-Bloc’s Florida distribution within three to five days. We also order parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when a bathroom project spans multiple product lines. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
Ready for a written price? Call (850) 780-8123. A live person answers, day or night, every day of the year. We’ll schedule the estimate, send you the name and photo of who’s coming before they arrive, and put your price in writing before a single tool gets unpacked.
