Ameristar Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
A failed Ameristar bathroom fixture or finish doesn’t usually announce itself loudly. It starts as a small thing, a faucet that drips at 3 a.m., a shower valve that won’t hold temperature, a vanity door that hangs two degrees off. Then one morning you’re standing in water or looking at a cracked pan and the whole room feels tired at once. A full Ameristar bathroom remodel in Miami typically runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, and we stock or can source Ameristar-compatible parts for same-week work in most cases. Call (850) 780-8123 and one of our people, a real person, not a phone tree, will tell you what we can do, what it costs, and when we can start.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To
Ameristar’s bathroom line covers a few distinct series, and the part you need depends on which one you have. The most common call we get is for the Ameristar bath-and-shower valve bodies, which use a non-standard trim screw spacing on early production runs. If your escutcheon plate measures 7-1/4 inches center-to-center, it’s the original Ameristar rough-in; the later versions moved to a 7-1/2-inch standard that matches most aftermarket trims. The second group is vanity cabinetry and sink bases, where Ameristar used a proprietary 36-inch and 48-inch frame with a clipped corner profile. A standard off-the-shelf vanity won’t sit flush against those walls without a filler strip, which is why we order the Ameristar-matched pan and side splashes rather than making a big-box substitute work. We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Ameristar, but we’ve matched enough of their parts over the years to know which ones cross over cleanly and which ones don’t.

Signs Your Ameristar Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Shower valve will not hold temperature. The pressure-balancing cartridge inside Ameristar shower valves wears out faster in Miami’s hard water; mineral buildup scores the internal seals and you get that sudden hot blast when someone flushes a toilet.
- Tub or shower pan cracks at the drain collar. Ameristar’s early acrylic pans were thinner at the drain point than the surrounding deck. Add South Florida humidity and slab settling, and that’s where the fatigue crack starts.
- Vanity doors or drawers no longer close square. The MDF cores on older Ameristar cabinet doors swell from bathroom moisture, even with the vent fan running. The hinge screws stay tight, but the door leaf itself has moved.
- Water stains on the ceiling below the bathroom. An Ameristar pan-to-drain seal that’s lost its flexibility is the usual culprit. It’s a cheap gasket, but reaching it means pulling the drain assembly apart.
- Grout joints crumbling within three years. If the tile was set over an Ameristar acrylic backer panel rather than cement board, movement transfer cracks the grout. We see this on second-story bathrooms in Coconut Grove where the framing shifts with the humidity cycle.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A full Ameristar bathroom remodel in Miami lands between $10,620 and $33,040 depending on what’s coming out and what’s going back in. On the lower end, you’re looking at a direct fixture swap, same footprint, same plumbing locations. On the higher end, we’re moving drains, replacing the pan and valve, installing new waterproofing, and rebuilding the vanity wall with blocking for grab bars. Every price we give is written, in your hand, before any work starts. No change orders disguised as surprises. The line items are spelled out: demo and haul-off, rough plumbing, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, finish carpentry, and trim-out. And every project carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right within a year of the completion date, we make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check the easy things yourself: shut off the supply stops and see if the drip stops, which tells you it’s the fixture, not the feed line; run a bead of food coloring around the tub drain at night and see if it’s gone by morning. But opening an Ameristar valve body or pulling a pan is where it gets real. You’re dealing with water lines under pressure, and if the shutoff valve is original to the house, there’s a good chance it won’t fully close. That’s the kind of thing that goes from a Saturday project to a Monday insurance claim. If the part looks borderline, call us at (850) 780-8123. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth a service call or whether you’re better off leaving it alone for now.
FAQs

An Ameristar shower valve cartridge typically lasts 5 to 7 years in Miami’s water conditions before the seals start to degrade. The pan and cabinetry can last 15 to 20 years if the bathroom is properly vented and the waterproofing was done correctly. If yours failed earlier than that, it’s usually an installation issue, not a manufacturing flaw. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll tell you what we’re seeing before we quote anything.
A shower valve can almost always be repaired with a new cartridge, which is a $200 to $400 job including the part. A cracked pan cannot be reliably repaired; patching it is a temporary fix that fails again within a year or two. We’ll tell you straight which one you have. If it’s repairable, that’s all we quote.
A fixture-level swap, same footprint, no plumbing moves, takes 3 to 5 working days. A full remodel with pan replacement, new waterproofing, and tile runs 2 to 3 weeks. We give you a schedule in writing before we start, and Isaac Pruett checks the job at rough-in and at final walk-through to make sure it matches the number we quoted.
We keep common Ameristar valve cartridges, trim kits, and drain assemblies on our trucks. For cabinet parts and pan replacements, we order direct and they arrive inside a week in Miami. If you’re matching an older Ameristar finish, bring us a photo of the fixture and the model number under the sink or behind the valve trim plate, and we’ll match it before we come out. We also carry parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria, and Silestone surfaces, so if the Ameristar part is paired with one of those, we can handle the whole thing in one trip.
