Boral Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If you have a Boral bathroom and something has failed, we stock and install Boral-compatible bathroom remodeling components across Miami, with most full bathroom remodels running between $10,620 and $33,040 depending on scope. The failure usually announces itself through water: a cracked shower pan, a delaminating vanity, or grout that won’t stay sealed no matter how many times you re-caulk it. Humidity in South Florida accelerates every weak point in a bathroom, and Boral products are no exception.

We’re an independent remodeler based in Miami, not affiliated with Boral, but we work with their product lines daily and know where they hold up and where they don’t. The parts that fail first in this climate are almost always the ones exposed to constant moisture against a surface that wasn’t sloped or sealed correctly at install.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s bathroom lines under the Boral and sister-label umbrellas include vanity bases, wall panels, shower bases, and trim boards used for wet-area finishing. The compatibility question that trips up most Miami homeowners is this: Boral shower bases and wall panels are manufactured in specific dimensional sets, and the 36-inch base from one series will not always seat properly with the 36-inch panel from another. You can’t mix series by measurement alone.

Finding the right match means locating the product code on the backside of the panel or the underside of the shower base. It’s not always visible after install; if you can’t find the code, a photo of the profile edge plus the base dimensions usually lets us identify it. For replacement parts, we recommend OEM Boral when the failure is structural (cracked pan, split panel seam), because aftermarket equivalents rarely match the tongue-and-groove profile Boral cuts into their wall panels. For trim and hardware, a quality aftermarket match is often perfectly fine and costs less.

One more compatibility gotcha: Boral’s wet-area panels from the last decade are not all color-stable across production runs. A replacement panel ordered today in “Gloss White” can show a visible shade shift against panels installed three years ago. If the bathroom is visible, we often recommend replacing the full run rather than one panel.

Signs Your Boral Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Soft spots at the shower base perimeter. Water is getting under the pan and sitting against the subfloor. In Miami’s humidity, that subfloor is now feeding mold, and the fix is a full base pull, not a bead of silicone.
  • Wall panels pulling away from the studs. Boral panels are fastened at the flanges, not glued across the face. When they bow or gap at the seams, the fasteners have worked loose or the substrate behind them has swelled. Caulking the seam won’t fix the movement.
  • Grout cracking repeatedly in the same lines. This tells you the tile is moving. Movement in a Boral wet area usually means the waterproofing layer underneath has separated from the substrate, so the assembly flexes every time someone stands on it.
  • Vanity base swelling at the toe kick. Boral vanity components are moisture-resistant, not waterproof. A swelling toe kick means water has been pooling there, typically from a leaking supply line or improper door seal on the cabinet. Once the fiberboard core swells, it will not return to shape.
  • A mildew smell that returns within days of cleaning. If the smell keeps coming back, water is trapped inside the assembly. In Miami, that means a concealed leak, and the only way to find it is to open the wall or the base. Guessing at the source costs more than the inspection.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, a Boral-specific bathroom remodel runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed. A smaller scope, like a tub-to-shower conversion using Boral panels, lands between $4,130 and $11,800. A walk-in shower replacement with Boral walls and pan runs $5,310 to $14,160.

What drives the range is scope: how much of the assembly is being torn out, whether the subfloor or studs need repair once we open the wall, and whether you’re matching existing Boral lines or replacing the full run. Every Mason Remodeling project gets a written price before work starts, and that number does not change unless we both agree in writing to a change in scope. The price includes tear-out, disposal, material, labor, and our one-year workmanship warranty, which runs 365 days from completion.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: look for standing water around the shower base, press on suspect panels to feel for movement, and check under the vanity with a flashlight for swelling or staining. That’s useful information to have before you call.

What you should not do is open the wall or pull the shower base yourself. Boral panels are fastened and sealed as a system, and once you break that seal, water moves behind the assembly fast. We’ve torn out more than one Miami bathroom where a well-intentioned homeowner “just took a look” and turned a $300 panel replacement into a $6,000 subfloor repair. If the failure is structural, call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll come put eyes on it.
