Tamko Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Tamko fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full perimeter job, and we stock Tamko-compatible vinyl and composite fence panels, posts, and rails on our trucks for most common models. When we get calls about Tamko fencing, it’s usually one of two scenarios: either a storm pushed a section over, or a homeowner noticed a post leaning after years of Miami heat and hurricane-season soil shifts. You’ll want to act on a failing fence section before the next big wind event, because a loose panel becomes a missile in a tropical storm.

We’re an independent Miami service provider, not affiliated with Tamko, but we install and repair their fencing lines regularly. Isaac Pruett has been working Miami neighborhoods for well over a decade, and he’ll tell you straight: half the Tamko fence repairs we do are fixing somebody else’s rushed install where the posts weren’t set deep enough for Florida’s sandy, shifting soil.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s residential fencing line splits into a few families: the Vinyl Privacy series, the Vinyl Picket styles, and their newer composite board fences. The compatibility gotcha most Miami owners hit is post size. Tamko uses both 4×4 and 5×5 post profiles depending on the line, and a 4×4 panel will not seat properly into a 5×5 post system without an adapter sleeve that most big-box stores in Florida don’t carry. If you’re looking at a replacement panel, measure the inside dimension of your existing post route before ordering anything.
For a Tamko fence specifically, OEM panels are mold-matched to their post system, meaning the tongue-and-groove spacing locks together without visible gaps. Quality aftermarket panels exist, but they’re built to a generic dimensional spec. In Miami’s humidity and UV exposure, generic vinyl panels fade unevenly and the locking channels can warp. For a matched repair on a fence that’s less than 10 years old, we recommend OEM. For a full replacement where everything’s coming out anyway, a quality aftermarket vinyl with a .065-inch wall thickness or better works and saves real money.

Signs Your Tamko Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean at the base, especially after rain. This almost always means the post wasn’t concreted deep enough for Miami’s soil. We set posts at least 24 inches deep with a 6-inch gravel base beneath the concrete. Anything shallower and the post will drift within a few wet seasons.
- Panels pulling out of the post channels. Vinyl expands and contracts with heat, and Tamko panels need room to float inside the post routes. If a previous installer jammed them tight or used screws through the face, the panel binds and cracks at the edges. You’ll see hairline fractures radiating from screw holes.
- Discoloration or chalky residue on one side only. South-facing fence runs in Miami take brutal UV. Tamko’s vinyl holds up, but if you see heavy chalk on one side while the other looks new, the panel’s capstock layer has degraded. That’s not a cleaning issue; that’s a replacement.
- Bottom rail sagging between posts. Vinyl rails span 6 feet on most Tamko lines. If the rail bows in the middle, the internal aluminum stiffener was either never installed or is the wrong gauge. Miami wind loads will finish the job if it’s not corrected.
- Gate dragging or latching loose. An out-of-square gate on a Tamko fence usually traces back to a shifting post, not a bad hinge. Fix the post and the gate geometry comes back.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, a section repair on a Tamko fence, meaning one or two posts and a panel, typically runs $700 to $1,800 depending on whether the post is 4×4 or 5×5, how much concrete has to be broken out, and whether a gate is involved. Full fence replacement lands in the $4,130 to $10,620 range for a standard lot. The spread comes from linear footage, gate count, whether you’re matching OEM Tamko or going aftermarket, and how much of the old post concrete needs excavation.
Every quote includes parts, labor, concrete, haul-away of the old material, and a written price before any work starts. We cover the installation with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and fix it at no cost. No change orders mid-job, either. The number we give you is the number you pay.
DIY or Call Us?
A vinyl fence is not a high-tension danger the way a garage spring or a live electrical panel is, but it can still hurt you. A 6-foot vinyl panel caught by a Miami wind gust has enough surface area to knock a person off a ladder, and the panels are awkward to solo-lift. The safe DIY work is inspection: walk the line, mark leaning posts with tape, note which panels have cracks or pulled channels, and take photos. That gives us a head start when you call.
What we don’t recommend is digging out posts yourself in South Florida. Our soil here is sandy in some neighborhoods and limestone shelf in others, and you won’t know which until you’re three feet down with a shovel and a bad mood. That’s a call worth making to (850) 780-8123. We’ll send a crew, and you’ll know exactly who’s coming before they knock.
FAQs

A properly installed Tamko vinyl fence in Miami should last 20 to 25 years, but the real variable is the post installation, not the panel. Posts set 24 inches deep with proper concrete and drainage will outlast the panels themselves. Posts set shallow will start leaning within 3 to 5 years. If your fence is over 15 years old and you’re seeing multiple leaning posts, replacement is the better math. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll give you a straight read on what’s salvageable.
Sometimes. If the post itself isn’t cracked and the concrete base is intact but undersized, we can sometimes straighten and re-set a post with additional concrete. If the post has stress cracks at the base or the concrete is crumbling, it’s a replacement. The honest answer requires seeing the post in the ground.
Most single-section Tamko repairs in Miami are done in one visit, usually 3 to 5 hours including concrete cure time for the new post. Full fence replacements run 1 to 3 days depending on linear footage and gate count. We’ll give you a schedule with the written quote, and we keep to it. Call (850) 780-8123 for an exact timeline on your project.
We stock common Tamko-compatible posts, panels, rails, and gate hardware on our trucks and can source OEM pieces through our supplier network within a few days for less common profiles. You don’t need to order anything yourself. If we need OEM and it’s a wait, we’ll tell you the lead time before we ever schedule the job. Call (850) 780-8123 with a photo of your fence and we’ll identify the line the same day.
