IKO Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

IKO fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete run, including posts, panels, hardware, and labor. We stock IKO-compatible fence panels and hardware in our Miami yard, so most installs start within a week of your written estimate. Most owners discover they need us when a post pulls loose after heavy rain, a panel starts sagging at the gate, or a neighbor’s landscaping pushed the fence line out of true.

You’re not looking for a generic fence. You have IKO panels or posts already, and you need the replacement work to match what’s standing. That’s a different job than new construction. We get that, and we price it that way.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO makes vinyl and composite fence systems, not just roofing. Their fence products appear most often in Miami as privacy panel systems, typically 6×6-foot and 6×8-foot sections, with routed posts and pre-notched rails. The critical thing to know about IKO fence compatibility is that their rail spacing and post channel dimensions changed between early generations and current production. A panel from 2015 will not always seat cleanly in a 2024 post without shimming or truss-head hardware that IKO does not sell retail.

How to identify what you have before you call us: look for the IKO mold stamp on the back face of the bottom rail. Older stamps show a numeric mold cavity number only; newer panels carry a date wheel and a two-letter plant code. Measure the wall thickness of the post at the top cut edge: early IKO posts run 0.110 to 0.125 inch, current runs 0.135 to 0.150 inch. That difference matters for fitment, not just durability. If you can’t find a stamp, send us a photo of the rail profile and a close-up of the post cap, and we’ll identify it from that.

When a matching IKO panel is available, that’s what we install. When it’s discontinued or the panel was damaged by a prior repair, we source quality aftermarket equivalents that match the rail and picket profile within 1/16 inch, then color-match to your existing fence. We’ll tell you which path applies before you spend anything.

Signs Your IKO Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning or pulling out. In Miami’s sandy, fast-draining soils, posts set less than 30 inches deep work loose within two or three wet seasons. If the post moves when you push on the cap, the footing has failed and the post needs to be reset deeper.
  • Rails popping out of the routed post. IKO rails seat into post channels with a friction fit. When a panel takes wind load, the rail ears crack at the narrowed end and the rail drops out of the channel. That’s a panel replacement, not a re-seat.
  • Panels bowing between posts. IKO panels carry a horizontal mid-rail for rigidity, but prolonged sun exposure in Miami softens vinyl and the panel starts to oil-can. If the bow exceeds an inch in the center, the panel has lost structural memory and won’t spring back.
  • Gate sagging and dragging on the latch side. The gate post flexes, the hinge screws wallow out, and the gate blade starts scraping the ground or the jamb. A sagging gate puts more load on the hinges every time it opens, and it only gets worse.
  • Discoloration or chalky surface with small cracks at the picket tops. Salt air and UV in Miami degrade the vinyl capstock on older IKO panels. Once micro-cracks appear at the top edge of the pickets, water gets into the foam core and the panel starts to degrade from inside.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Miami lot, IKO fence replacement or new installation lands between $4,130 and $10,620. The spread comes down to three things: linear feet of fence line, whether we’re reusing existing posts or digging new footings, and access for digging equipment. A straight 50-foot run with good access sits at the low end. A 120-foot perimeter with a double gate, concrete mow strip to cut through, and tree roots in the dig line lands at the top.

What’s included in our price: tear-out and haul-away of the old fence, new post footings at 30 to 42 inches depth depending on soil and wind exposure, IKO or IKO-matched panels, stainless hardware, gate hardware, and a written line-item price before we start. No change orders at the end. No verbal estimate that grows.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check yourself: walk the line and count how many posts move when pushed, check whether rails are seated in their post channels, and measure the gap at the gate latch. That tells you the scope before we arrive. What goes wrong fast in DIY: digging new post holes in Miami means hitting sand, muck, roots, old concrete, or a buried service line you didn’t know about, and setting posts straight and plumb in a 42-inch hole while bracing for wind is a two-person job that goes sideways in an afternoon. A fence that’s 3 degrees out of plumb at post three is 6 inches out at post nine.

If the problem is one popped rail, you can buy a rail and tap it back in. If it’s posts moving or panels cracking, call us at (850) 780-8123. Isaac Pruett will walk the line with you, give you a straight number, and tell you what it costs and when it’s finished. No padding.
