CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have CertainTeed products in your kitchen and something has failed, we can get the right replacement matched, priced, and installed without the runaround. A full CertainTeed kitchen remodel in Miami typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope, while targeted replacement work like countertops, backsplash, or cabinet refacing often lands between $945 and $7,670. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a corner of laminate is lifting, a backsplash tile has shifted and cracked, or a cabinet door no longer closes square after years of South Florida humidity. The good news is that CertainTeed components are well documented, which means we can usually identify the exact replacement part on the first visit, not the third.

We’re Mason Remodeling Co Miami, an independent remodeling contractor. We’re not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we work with their material lines regularly and stock the most commonly needed replacement components on our trucks.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s kitchen presence in South Florida centers on their solid surface and trim lines, which show up most often as countertops, backsplash systems, and coordinated wall panels. The compatibility question matters because CertainTeed has shifted their kitchen product naming over the years. Older installs in Miami frequently reference the Solid Surface or Restoration Millwork lines, while newer work uses the CertainTeed Architectural or Restoration Millwork trim series. The label inside a cabinet door or the underside of a countertop overhang usually carries the series name and a color code.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: CertainTeed color codes repeat across series but are not always interchangeable. A “Frost White” from the older Solid Surface line will not necessarily match a “Frost White” from a newer Architectural series. If you need an exact match for a repair rather than a full replacement, take a photo of the label and measure the thickness. Most CertainTeed kitchen surfaces run 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch. We carry OEM parts where available and quality aftermarket equivalents when the original has been discontinued, and we’ll tell you which is which before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Seam separation at the countertop joint. Most CertainTeed kitchen failures in Miami start here. Humidity cycling causes the substrate under the surface to expand and contract, and after enough cycles the adhesive bond at the seam lets go. You’ll see a hairline gap that collects water and darkens over time.
- Backsplash tile lifting at the bottom course. This is usually a moisture issue at the countertop-to-wall transition. Water gets behind the tile, the mastic degrades, and the tile loosens. If you tap the tile and hear a hollow sound, it’s already separated.
- Cabinet doors that no longer close square. CertainTeed’s millwork lines use adjustable hinges, but when the hinge plate strips or the door frame swells, adjustment stops helping. This is more common in Miami homes without consistent air conditioning.
- Swelling or bubbling at the sink cutout edge. Any laminate or solid surface that takes standing water at a cut edge will eventually show swelling. CertainTeed surfaces are well sealed at the factory, but a poor original install or a failing sink seal undoes that in a few seasons.
- Discoloration or fading on sun-facing counters. CertainTeed solid surface colors are UV stable, but nothing survives direct Miami afternoon sun forever. Fading that’s even across the surface is cosmetic; fading in streaks suggests a bad batch or a prior owner’s aggressive cleaning products.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what you can expect to pay in Miami, depending on what actually failed:
| Scope of Work | Typical Installed Price |
|---|---|
| Full kitchen remodel with CertainTeed surfaces | $16,520 – $53,100 |
| Small kitchen remodel | $10,620 – $23,600 |
| Countertop replacement (CertainTeed-compatible) | $2,360 – $7,670 |
| Backsplash replacement | $945 – $2,950 |
| Cabinet replacement or refacing | $4,720 – $15,340 |
The spread comes down to square footage, how much substrate has to be rebuilt, and whether the failure took out surrounding material. A seam repair is on the low end. A countertop that pulled water into the cabinet boxes below it is a different job entirely. Every quote from us is a written price before work starts, and that number doesn’t change unless you change the scope. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship for a full year from completion. If something isn’t right, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?
Some things you can safely check yourself. If a cabinet door is sagging, try the hinge adjustment screws. If a backsplash tile is loose but intact, you can tape the edges and wait. But the moment water has gotten behind a surface, or a seam has opened far enough to catch a fingernail, DIY becomes a gamble. You’ll patch the symptom while the moisture keeps working underneath, and the eventual repair bill doubles. CertainTeed countertop and trim work is not high-tension or electrical, so there’s no injury risk with the materials themselves, but the failure mode in Miami kitchens is almost always water doing hidden damage. The longer it sits, the more substrate we replace. Isaac Pruett has torn out enough homeowner “temporary fixes” in Coconut Grove to tell you plainly: the temporary fix is why we’re replacing the cabinet box instead of just the counter.

FAQs

In Miami’s heat and humidity, a properly installed CertainTeed countertop or backsplash system should last 15 to 25 years before showing meaningful wear. The failure point is almost never the CertainTeed material itself; it’s the installation or the water management around it. Call (850) 780-8123 and we can assess whether what you’re seeing is normal aging or an install problem.
Yes, in many cases. Seam separations can be rebonded, loose backsplash courses can be reset, and discolored surfaces can sometimes be refinished. The question is whether water has already done damage behind or below the visible part. We’ll give you a straight answer on what a repair buys you versus a replacement. Call (850) 780-8123 for a free estimate on either path.
Most single-surface replacements in Miami take one to two working days, including removal of the old material and cleanup. If substrate repair is needed underneath, add a day. We schedule the work so your kitchen isn’t down longer than necessary. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll give you a written timeline with your written price.
We carry the most common CertainTeed-compatible trims, adhesives, and edge treatments on our trucks. Exact color-matched surface sheets often come from our supplier network within a week. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone if you’re considering mixing materials for the replacement. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll check stock while you’re on the line.
