Moen Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Moen kitchen remodeling projects in Miami typically run between $16,520 and $53,100 installed, depending on cabinet scope, countertop material, and whether you’re replacing a single fixture or gutting the whole room. We stock Moen faucets, sinks, and hardware on our trucks in the most common finishes and configurations, so a failed Moen part usually gets matched and installed same-day if you’re in the Miami metro.

Most Miami homeowners call us after a Moen faucet starts dripping at the base, a pulldown hose won’t retract, or a cartridge seizes from hard water. The part usually isn’t expensive. The frustration comes from buying the wrong replacement online, waiting a week for it, then realizing the retaining nut needs a specialty wrench. We solve that by identifying the exact Moen model on our first visit and carrying the common cartridges, O-rings, and spray heads with us.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

We work on the full Moen kitchen lineup: the Adler, Align, Arbor, Brantford, and Voss faucet lines, plus Moen sinks, garbage disposals, and soap dispensers. The compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit is cartridge type. Moen uses two main cartridge families: the older 1225 (brass, used in Chateau and older standard faucets) and the newer 1255 Duralast (plastic composite, used in most modern single-handle and pulldown models). They are not interchangeable, and installing the wrong one gives you a handle that either won’t turn or leaks at the stem.
For OEM versus aftermarket, our position is simple. Buy Moen’s OEM cartridge every time. The aftermarket Duralast copies are half the price but frequently fail within a year in Miami’s hard water and chlorinated supply. We’ve pulled too many generic cartridges out of faucets that were “just fixed” eight months ago. The plastic tolerances are looser, the rubber seats degrade faster, and the handle develops a fraction of play that turns into a full drip. We keep both 1225 and 1255 cartridges in stock, along with pulldown hose assemblies, spray head kits, mounting hardware, and Moen soap dispenser pumps.

Signs Your Moen Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Leak at the faucet base when the handle is on. The O-rings around the cartridge body have flattened from heat cycling and hard water mineral buildup. This is the most common Moen failure we see in Miami after about five to seven years of daily use.
- Pulldown hose won’t retract or stays stretched out. The weighted ball under the sink has slipped down the hose, or the internal spring has corroded. On Moen pulldowns, the hose also chafes against the shank where it exits the spout, so you’ll see a slow braided line deterioration before it actually splits.
- Handle gets progressively stiffer to operate. Cartridge internals are seizing, almost always from calcium and lime scale. Miami water is moderately hard in most neighborhoods, and over years the scale builds inside the cartridge housing until the handle feels like it’s grinding.
- Water pressure at the spray head drops while the main stream stays fine. The aerator and check valve in the spray head are clogged with sediment. Moen spray heads have a built-in screen that catches debris, and once it’s packed, flow drops off noticeably.
- Persistent drip from the spout after shutoff. The cartridge’s rubber seals have finally worn through. A drip every few seconds wastes hundreds of gallons a month and usually means the cartridge is at the end of its service life, not just dirty.

These numbers include the part, labor, and disposal of the old component. If you’re already planning a broader kitchen remodel, Moen fixture installation folds into the $16,520 to $53,100 project range.

DIY or Call Us?
What an owner can safely do: identify the Moen model number from the tag on the cold water supply line under the sink, remove the aerator and rinse the screen under running water, and check the weighted ball position on the pulldown hose. Those checks cost you nothing and often explain simple pressure or retraction issues.
Where DIY goes wrong on Moen faucets is the cartridge. The retaining nut requires a deep-well socket or Moen’s specialty removal tool, and it’s easy to crack the faucet body or strip the brass threads if the nut is seized with mineral deposits. We’ve replaced several faucets in Coral Gables and Kendall after a homeowner over torqued that nut and destroyed the valve body. That turns a $200 cartridge job into a $700 faucet replacement. If the handle won’t budge, call (850) 780-8123 before the wrench comes out.
FAQs

With Miami’s water chemistry, a Moen cartridge lasts five to eight years before seals degrade, and the faucet body itself can go fifteen to twenty years if the finish is protected from abrasive cleaners. Hard water shortens the cartridge life; neighborhoods with higher mineral content, like parts of Homestead and Westchester, tend to see failures closer to the five-year mark. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll assess your specific water situation.
Moen cartridges cannot be repaired; they’re a sealed unit designed for full replacement. What looks repairable, like the rubber seats and springs at the base, are sold as a kit and sometimes extend cartridge life by a year or two, but we recommend full cartridge replacement for lasting results. It’s the same labor either way, and the full replacement costs about $40 more for the part.
A cartridge replacement takes 45 minutes to an hour including disassembly, cleaning the valve body, and reinstalling the new cartridge. A full Moen faucet replacement runs ninety minutes to two hours depending on access under the sink and whether supply lines need replacing. We’ll give you a time range on the phone before we arrive.
We stock Moen 1225 and 1255 cartridges, common spray head kits, pulldown hose assemblies, and mounting hardware on our service trucks, covering the majority of Moen kitchen faucet failures in Miami. For less common Moen sink and dispenser parts, we source directly from Moen’s distribution network with next-business-day delivery in most cases. If it’s in stock locally, you’re fixed the day we arrive.
