Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you own Wellborn cabinetry in Miami, you’re likely dealing with a specific failure: a hinge that’s stripped out of its mounting plate, a drawer glide that’s bent from years of humid-air swelling, or a door front that’s delaminating at the edges from our salt-heavy coastal air. Mason Remodeling Co Miami stocks Wellborn-compatible replacement parts on our trucks and installs them for a typical range of $165 to $590 per cabinet, depending on what’s failed and whether we’re repairing or replacing the component. Most Wellborn part swaps are finished the same day we arrive, and we’ll give you a written price before we touch a single screw.

What we see most often in Miami kitchens: homeowners don’t notice the part failing until the cabinet door won’t stay closed, the drawer catches on one side, or the soft-close mechanism stops working entirely. The failure is rarely dramatic. It’s just persistent, and it makes the whole kitchen feel worn out. Wellborn cabinets are solidly built, but Florida humidity and daily use will eventually find the weakest hardware point.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn has produced several cabinet lines over the years, and the replacement parts differ by series. The three most common lines we service in Miami are Wellborn Premier, Wellborn Estate, and Wellborn Select, plus the older Wellborn Forestwood series you still find in homes built between 1995 and 2010. The Premier line uses concealed cup hinges with a 35mm bore and a standard 9mm screw pattern, while Select uses a smaller 26mm bore on certain door profiles. If you grab a hinge from the wrong series, the holes won’t line up and you’ll end up drilling new ones, which weakens the door stile over time.
We identify the right part before ordering anything. Inside every Wellborn cabinet door frame there’s a small white or clear sticker with the cabinet’s production code. The first two letters tell you the series, and the numbers tell us the door profile and finish. If the sticker is gone, we measure the bore diameter, the overlay, and the screw spread. That’s the only reliable way to match Wellborn parts. For homeowners deciding between true OEM Wellborn parts and quality aftermarket equivalents, we’re honest about the tradeoff: OEM matches the existing finish and mounting exactly, but Blum and Salice make the underlying hinge hardware for many Wellborn lines anyway, so a quality aftermarket hinge from the same manufacturer often fits and functions identically at 30 to 40 percent less. The catch is that aftermarket finishes don’t always match older Wellborn colors like Honey Maple or Toasted Chestnut.

Signs Your Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet door won’t stay closed. The spring inside the self-closing hinge has fatigued, or the hinge plate screws have stripped from the cabinet face frame. In Miami’s humidity, we also see the door itself absorbing enough moisture that the reveal shifts enough to defeat the catch.
- Drawer sticks or drags on one side. The nylon wheel or ball-bearing carriage inside the glide has worn unevenly. On Wellborn drawers from the early 2000s, the rail itself can bend after years of overloaded pots and pans.
- Soft-close no longer slows the door. The damper cylinder inside the hinge or the drawer slide has lost its hydraulic fluid. Once that happens, the door slams, and the slamming accelerates wear on the hinge cup and mounting screws.
- Visible delamination at the top or bottom edge of a door front. Miami’s humidity penetrates the edge banding, especially on doors near the dishwasher or above the stove. The thermofoil or laminate starts to peel back, and it won’t re-bond on its own.
- Screws keep loosening in the same hinge hole. The hinge plate has been re-tightened so many times that the wood fibers are compressed and can’t grip the screw thread anymore. You can tighten it today and it’ll be loose again in two weeks.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Wellborn cabinet hardware replacement and repair in Miami, most jobs fall between $165 and $590 per cabinet. That’s parts plus labor, with the price in writing before we start. The range depends on what’s failed. A single worn hinge on a Wellborn Premier door is typically $165 to $220 installed, including the replacement hinge and realigning the door so the reveal is even on all sides. A full drawer glide replacement runs $210 to $320 per drawer, depending on whether we’re matching the original undermount or converting to a newer soft-close model. If we’re repairing delamination on a door front, that’s $280 to $590 per door because we remove the old edge banding, clean the substrate, apply new banding, and refinish the edge to match.
Every repair includes a written line-item quote before we begin, and our workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If anything we install fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check two things before calling. First, try tightening the mounting screws on the hinge plate or drawer glide with a manual screwdriver. If the screw bites and holds, your problem may be solved. Second, check whether the cabinet is still square using a level across the face frame. A cabinet that has settled in Miami’s shifting soil can throw every door out of alignment, and no replacement hinge fixes that.
What we’d recommend against is drilling new holes in Wellborn face frames to “fix” a stripped screw. The frames on Premier and Estate cabinets aren’t as deep as the old Forestwood frames, and drilling oversized holes or running in longer screws without care will blow out the back of the stile. Same goes for replacing soft-close mechanisms inside the hinge cup. The retaining clip is small and brittle after years of heat exposure, and once it breaks, the entire hinge has to be replaced. If you’ve got a drawer that’s binding, a door that won’t stay put, or edge banding coming loose, call us at (850) 780-8123 and tell us what cabinet line you have. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what it costs, and when we can be there.
FAQs

In Miami’s humid climate, most Wellborn hinges and drawer glides last 15 to 20 years before the springs fatigue or the dampers fail. Cabinets near the dishwasher or over the stove tend to fail faster because the heat and moisture cycles accelerate wear on the hardware. If your cabinets are older than 15 years and you’re seeing multiple failures, it’s usually more cost-effective to replace all the hardware on that run of cabinets at once rather than one hinge at a time. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll assess the whole kitchen with you.
For most Wellborn hinges, repair isn’t practical. The spring and damper mechanisms inside the hinge cup are sealed units, and once they fatigue or leak, the hinge is done. If the problem is a stripped screw hole in the face frame, we can often repair that by injecting a wood hardener and using a properly sized insert, which preserves the original screw location without drilling. If the hinge itself is the failure point, replacement is the faster, cleaner fix. Call (850) 780-8123 and describe what you’re seeing, and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Most Wellborn part swaps, including hinges, drawer glides, and soft-close replacements, are completed in one to three hours on site. Delamination repair on door fronts takes longer because the adhesive and edge banding need time to set properly before we reinstall the door. We’ll tell you the expected time when we give you the written price. Call (850) 780-8123 to schedule.
We stock Wellborn-compatible hinges, drawer glides, and soft-close replacements on our trucks for the most common series: Premier, Estate, and Select. For finish-specific items like matching trim, molding, or a door front in an older Wellborn color like Honey Maple, we source from our supplier network, which typically takes three to five business days here in Miami. We’ll know what we need after we identify your cabinet’s production code or measure the existing components. Call (850) 780-8123 and we’ll check what we have on hand before you wait.
